Terms of Use

Important Information on Single Trail Use

For a safe and fair coexistence, clear rules apply on the Grossarltal single trail. Please inform yourself in advance about operating hours, mandatory equipment, and rules of conduct on the trail.

Use is at your own risk and only with a valid summer bike ticket. All details can be found in the following regulations.

The general, operating, and transport conditions of Grossarler Bergbahnen GesmbH Co KG must be observed. In case of non-compliance with the terms of use/rules of conduct, the lift ticket may be revoked. The operator is excluded from any liability.

1. Operating Hours

The opening hours of the Grossarltal single trail are according to the operating hours of the Panoramabahn Grossarltal (as posted). Please ensure the single trail is open before using it.

Opening status at grossarltal.info/biketrail. Riding outside opening hours is strictly forbidden! The single trail may only be used in conjunction with a valid summer bike ticket from Grossarler Bergbahnen for that day.

2. Protective Equipment

Every cyclist must wear suitable protective equipment. This consists at least of a helmet and gloves.

Chest protectors and protectors for elbows, legs, and back increase your personal safety.

3. Trails

Only the signposted single trail routes may be ridden in the direction of travel from top to bottom. The use of unmarked routes and turning off onto forest roads is forbidden!

4. Consideration

Every cyclist must behave in such a way that they do not endanger or harm anyone else.

5. Control

Every cyclist must ride on sight. They must adapt their speed and riding style to their ability and the terrain and weather conditions, as well as the traffic density.

The trail surface is uneven and consists of natural materials (earth, roots, stones), which requires mastery of the bike and technical skill. The trail leads through forest and agricultural meadows.

Show consideration for wildlife and grazing livestock. Pay attention to alpine hazards.

6. Choice of Lane

The cyclist coming from behind must choose their lane in such a way that they do not endanger the cyclist in front of them.

7. Overtaking

Overtaking is only permitted in places with sufficient width from above, from the right or from the left, but always with a distance that allows the overtaken cyclist enough space for all their movements.

8. Stopping, Walking, and Hiking

Every cyclist is prohibited from stopping unnecessarily in narrow or blind spots on a trail.

A fallen cyclist must clear such a spot as quickly as possible. Walking, hiking, and especially going uphill or riding uphill on the bike trails is prohibited.

The trails cross hiking paths: Appropriate consideration must be given to hikers, and they must be given priority.

9. Road Traffic Regulations Must be Observed

When riding on public roads at the end of the single trail, ensure that the bicycles comply with road traffic regulations.

10. Observe Signs

Every cyclist must observe the markings, signage, and signals. Special attention must be paid to road crossings (always stop!).

11. Assistance

In case of accidents, every cyclist is obliged to provide assistance.

12. Identification Requirement

Every cyclist, whether witness or participant, whether responsible or not, must provide their personal details in the event of an accident.

13. Closed Trail

When the trail is closed and outside the summer operating hours of the Panoramabahn Grossarltal, an absolute riding ban applies!

14. Environment

Please respect the environment. Take waste down to the valley and dispose of it at the designated points. No riding off the path, no leaving traces. Animals and plants are to be treated with respect. Avoid noise.

Before entering the asphalt section of the “Güterweg Rodlberg” and before entering the cable car facility, please clean your bike of dirt at the washing station located at the end of the bike trail.

15. Photography and Filming

Photography and filming are prohibited on the immediate bike trail for safety reasons.

At the rest areas along the trail, taking pictures and videos for non-commercial purposes is permitted.

16. Use of Facilities is at your Own Risk

The trail has a difficulty level of “easy” (S1 according to the official single trail category). Nevertheless, its use requires advanced riding skills.

Children under 12 years of age may only use the Grossarltal single trail when accompanied by an authorized supervisor. The instructions of the staff must be strictly followed!
